How much would you pay for a priceless piece of Nirvana memorabilia? Apparently a lot. The auctioned off guitar was destroyed by Kurt Cobain during a concert in New Jersey. A short while later Cobain traded the guitar with The Grannies and Hullabaloo guitarist for a working one.
The guitar sold by Sluggo, a friend of Cobain’s, for $100,000 in a US auction to an unidentified private collector. This (surprisingly) is not the most expensive piece of Cobain memorabilia auctioned off to date. His Mosrite Gospel Mark IV guitar was sold for $131,000 in 2006.
Jacob McMurray, senior curator at the Project, told Yahoo Music: “It’s a really cool looking guitar because it’s smashed and held together with duct tape and Kurt Cobain wrote on it. There’s not a huge amount of broken Nirvana guitars out there.”My only question is who could sell such a thing?
