Twilight' star Kristen Stewart in 'The Cake Eaters,' Mary Stuart Masterson's directorial debut



An entirely different take on the topic of virginity this time around from Twilight star Kristen Stewart, previously known as the sex-abstaining vampire lover Bella: The Cake Eaters opens today, starring Stewart as Georgia Kaminski, a teenager dying from a degenerative nervous system disease who is determined to have sex before she dies.

The film is opening in limited release in New York and Los Angeles today, and got a pretty nice review from The New York Times today. Also, here's a comprehensive NPR interview with director Mary Stuart Masterson:

I know a number of people still nursing Some Kind of Wonderful-era crushes on Masterson, so I'm curious to see how she holds up as a director. The film also stars Aaron Stanford, Bruce Dern, Elizabeth Ashley, and Jayce Bartok.
