The actress gets stuck into the action in the new comic book adventure, which follows a crack team of superheroes out to prevent the end of the earth, of course.
And she wears a devastatingly delectable outfit during explosive scenes - an all-in-one leather catsuit complete with a utility belt for all the real comic book geeks out there.
Kaboom! One of the new stills released shows Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff standing in the street while a building blows up
Devastating: The actress' outfit will raise eyebrows among comic book fans and regular movie-goers alike
In new shots from the film set she is seen preparing for a scene with director Joss Whedon on a set that looks like the interior of a space ship.
Then in another still, she is seen standing in a debris-filled road in New York as a building blows up by a bus behind her.
Team USA: Scarlett Johansson dressed as Black Widow, Chris Evans dressed as Captain America and Jeremy Renner dressed as Hawkeye pictured filming a scene on the set of The New Avengers movie in Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan
She said: 'The other day we were doing this big reveal shot of all the Avengers. Thor has got his hammer, Cap’s got his shield, Hawkeye has his bow and arrow, and Hulk is huge. Then it pans over to me and I’ve got guns.
'Iron Man’s like, hovering above all of us, ready to go... I was like, "Joss… um… do I look OK holding these guns?" and he responded, "She’s a total bad-ass. She’s a killing machine".'

Jackson is seen being his usual bad-ass self as Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., who recruits a superhero team - The Avengers - to save the world from destruction.
Fans have seen Jackson in this role before when he was first introduced in the two Iron Man films in 2008 and 2009, before reappearing in two of this year's biggest blockbusters, Thor and Captain America.
Blind Fury: Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury joins Scarlett Johansson and The Avengers cast as more scenes are releasedBut that's hardly a surprise, as all four films criss-cross for the superheros to come together to make one big crime-fighting machine known as The Avengers.
And today, more scenes were released from the film, which boasts a star-studded cast including Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
The film also stars Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk.
The nemesis returns: Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, comes to Earth to try and rule over the human race
And Hiddleston told fans recently that they will see a 'further advanced' Loki in The Avengers.
He said: 'You have to ask yourself the question: how pleasant an experience is it disappearing into a wormhole that has been created by some kind of super nuclear explosion of his own making? So I think by the time Loki shows up in The Avengers he's seen a few things.'
I hope that's been dry-cleaned: Chris Evans as Captain America looking at his superhero suit
But he is also kind of deluded in the fact that he thinks unlimited power will give him self respect so I haven't let go of the fact that he is still motivated by this terrible jealousy and kind of spiritual desolation.'
