With her famous role as Hermione Granger firmly behind her, Emma Watson has decided to experiment with a different look by cutting her hair into an edgy new 'do.
The 20-year-old actress was almost unrecognisable as she showed off her crop while catching a cab in New York's West Village with friends.
Wearing a chic striped top and cropped summery trousers, Emma's new look was wizarding worlds away from the innocent schoolgirl Hermione in the Harry Potter franchise.

But while Emma appears pleased by the new crop, her fans aren't finding it quite so magical - having become used to Emma as Hermione, with her famously long, curly hair.
And despite admitting she would be extremely sad to say goodbye to the Harry Potter franchise, Emma is clearly keen to make a fresh start for herself with a drastic new appearance.

Since finishing shooting the final two Harry Potter films - Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I and Part II - Emma has returned to New York where she is currently studying at Brown University.
Speaking after a successful first year at the Ivy League insitution, Emma told Vanity Fair magazine: 'I was scared before I came to Brown - that I wasn't going to be allowed to have both a career and a normal life.
'I was afraid they'd think, "You're famous. You're given free handbags. Why should you deserve to be normal?" '
