Angelina Jolie in late-stage talks to star in Taxi and The Fifth Element director Luc Besson’s untitled science-based thriller
We all know that Angelina Jolie isn’t offered roles like any other actress. She’s presented with a pyramid of them wrapped in gold paper like Ferrero Rocher on a swanky silver tray. Well, at the top of her artfully stacked pile at the moment is an untitled thriller written and to-be-directed by Luc Besson.
Besson is seeking Jolie for the lead in his unnamed
thriller, which is apparently based on “real science”. What is it about that claim that makes us imagine Jolie swishing her mane in a shampoo ad, and talking about amino acids and pro-Keratene 5?Jolie is said to be keen to work with Besson, and if a deal is reached, willing to make the thriller a priority over roles in the new Cleopatra film and in Ridley Scott’s Gertrude Bell biopic.
Besson’s latest, Aung San Suu Kyi biopic The Lady hasn’t received the warmest of welcomes from early audiences, and UK filmgoers will have the chance to make up their minds on the 30th of December.
