Worth the Watch: 'Abduction'

Abduction, directed by John Singleton (Four Brothers, 2 Fast 2 Furious), stars Taylor Lautner (Twilight Saga) as Nathan, a teenager who has always felt he is a little different. When one day he discovers a picture of himself on a missing persons website, he begins to question everything and everyone he knows. After being attacked at his home by an unknown agency, Nathan
is forced on the run. Now he must stay alive when everyone around him is dying in order to discover his true identity and the reason for a mysterious organization wanting him dead.
This film promises to be an action-packed, edge of your seat, heart racing thriller starring one of the biggest up-and-coming actors today, Taylor Lautner. I think it is safe to presume the majority of you have seen at least one of the Twilight films. From his performances in those films, we could predict Taylor was an action star in the making. I mean he has the looks, build and style for an action hero, and a large enough fan base to give any film he stars in a good chance of success. I will be interested to see how hard it will be for Taylor to shake the brooding werewolf Jacob persona, and how long it will take audiences to see his role in other films as something completely different.
Shedding the name of a character in a popular series has been a challenge for many actors. I mean who, still to this day, can say they can look at Matt LeBlanc and not see Joey Tribbiani from the hugely successful television show Friends. More recent actors who are plagued with this problem are the trio from Harry Potter, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe better known as Hermione, Ron and Harry. I hope Taylor will be able to move on in terms of his career, and deliver some excellent performances in films to come, which will have even the most devout Twilight follower forced to see him in a new light.
Thankfully Abduction has a very experienced and respected director behind the camera, hopefully steering this film to success. John Singleton has directed such films as Shaft, Boyz N the Hood, 2 Fast 2 Furious and, a personal favorite of mine, Four Brothers. So as you can see, John has a great amount of experience in directing some great action films, which is fantastic news for this picture, as it is set to be a high octane action thriller. Also with some brilliant supporting actors like Alfred Molina, Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver, this film looks to have a balanced and diverse cast.
So if you are an action junkie and enjoy a good thriller, then this film is for you. From a plot line shrouded in mystery, assassinations and high speed chases, with just a sprinkle of romance, there is something in this film for everybody.
Abduction is released in cinemas everywhere September 23, so get yourself to the cinema tonight and prepare to be entertained.
