The pixie crops of Emma Watson and Justin Bieber have been named the most influential styles of the year.
According to search engine Google, the two are in possession of the most-searched for celebrity haircuts of 2011, with more people carrying out searches for pictures of the pair's crops than any other celebrity style. Consumer experts have gone one further, crediting Harry Potter star Emma Watson with bringing short hair back into fashion.
Just as the Rachel and the Pob (Victoria Beckham's Posh bob) had their moment in the sun, in 2011 hair salons report having been inundated with requests for both the Emma Watson and the Bieber.
Creative director and salon manager Michael Lendon at the Aveda Institute London reports that the number of women requesting short crops has increased dramatically since Emma went for the chop.

'This is the first year since the late 90s that it's been really trendy to wear your hair short,' he told MailOnline. 'Obviously there are plenty of women who've worn theirs cropped during that time, but ever since Emma had hers cut into that gamine crop, the style has become much more popular with our guests.'
'Seeing a star like Emma Watson wear the look successfully gives women keen on going short the nudge they need to take the plunge,' he adds.
'Emma Watson, Michelle Williams, Carey Mulligan and Halle Berry all look so feminine with their crops. Clients often need somebody to look to for inspiration - they may want to go short but need to see someone in the public eye that makes them realise they will still look sexy.
'It gives them the OK to go ahead with it themselves.'

'Men would never say they wanted to look like Justin Bieber,' says Michael, 'but they might describe his preppy look and sweepy fringe.
'They'll often describe how their girlfriend would like it to get around saying they want to look like Justin.'
But although he says this is a style that suits almost anyone, Michael warns against going into the salon with too much haste.

'It's actually one of the most versatile styles around - there are so many variables. You can make it really unique for each individual.
'Just bear in mind your hair grows six inches a year, so you might be cutting off three years worth of growth. You've got to be really ready for it. I always say to clients to make sure they are really sure.'
The 21-year-old star, who has recently been signed in a six-figure deal to promote cosmetics brand Lancome, says cutting off her long hair was incredibly liberating.
Having played Hermione for a decade, the star had to keep her hair long to play the school girl. When the eighth and final film was put to bed last year, she had her hair cut immediately.
'The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it," she told Entertainment Weekly at the time.
'I've wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I could, I did it.'
